The combination of my landscape and portrait wedding work, along with the ability to light a scene to create a desired aesthetic makes me very versatile as a photographer.
The photograph to the left was taken on the Aonach Eagach above Glen Coe on commission for The Great Outdoors magazine. The banner image at the top of this page was from a shoot at the Georgian House in Edinburgh, for the National Trust for Scotland members’ magazine.
Some shoots can be straightforward, others can be more logistically or creatively challenging. The image to the right is a perfect example. Taken for the band Niteworks it involved quad bikes, trailers, generators, perfect timing and the vagaries of the Skye weather! Having the experience to plan and execute more complex shoots makes all the difference in the world, on a job like this.
The photograph below was taken for the 2020 Images of Research competition at Strathclyde University. Working with a psychology researcher, I had to find a way of visually depicting her research into suicide and self-harm, and specifically people who felt trapped in their own head. Projects like this are an excellent opportunity to push the boat out creatively, and hugely satisfying when they come together.
