Slioch
Slioch completely dominates the views across Loch Maree. It has to be high on the list of the most photogenic mountains in Scotland, and that’s a list with some serious competition.
On this occasion, I’d stopped at Bridge of Grudie, and enjoyed exploring the native forest around the river. This lone pine stands at a slight remove from the rest of the trees, and is a perfect foreground for the mighty Slioch across the loch. As the sun approached the horizon to the west, the midges came out in force, and as the timer triggered this photograph, I was running around 20 meters from the camera trying to evade the little buggers. Anyone that’s ever experienced that area on a still summer’s evening will know just exactly how futile that was…
