Steall Falls
It’s been an incredible month for weather and conditions, and as the leaves have started to return in force over the last week I thought I’d share one of my favourite images of Steall Falls in Glen Nevis.
Spring might have sprung, but for most of us it’s been a conflicting time - watching perfect sunset after perfect sunset through the window at home as lockdown endures. It’s a necessary evil at the moment and while many of us are desperate to get out into the hills again, most of us are also quite wary about going too soon.
At times like these, I find a good photograph really is worth something. Looking at Steall Falls tumbling past the trees, I am content with the thought that it’s still there, quietly doing it’s thing regardless of the turbulence society faces. We may be facing the hardest times in a generation, but high in the Glen it is busines as usual for the Allt Coire a’ Mhail on it’s descent to meet the Water of Nevis.
I might be restricted to my home but I can perfectly recall the touch of a gentle breeze, the smell of the water and the play of the light on the treetops on my last visit, and in doing so I can still wander the glen.
Prints are available from my gallery.
